We weren’t born for this
And while I was on a random heedless stroll within the unknown, I was asked by him, “were we born for just this?”. “What do you mean?” I asked; “you already know” he said. “You think I would have asked if I did?” I asked with a slight smirk. “Yes, you enjoy it. I know you do, you want me to say it because you enjoy it when I try to explain and fail”, he seemed annoyed. I chuckled a little and said “No, I enjoy it when you point it out because
.…… it reminds me that you actually notice, makes me feel a little more relevant, …..anyways”. “You are stupid! How long have we been together now and you still need that!”, I could see disappointment and irritation on his face to which I replied, “ every person has their issues, mine are just these haha”. “You know how we say a lot that we weren’t born for this, we were meant for something better, something more meaningful, but do you really believe in that?” I took a brief pause before speaking again; “what is the bigger cause? And how big of it is it in reality? It’s just something else you will feel petty about once you have it.” He looked at me blankly before speaking, “but isn’t this too dull, working to live on the time that is barely left after all the chores, I mean don’t you feel stuck, don’t you want to enjoy your life more than just on the weekends?”. I looked away as if I was searching for something and then finally looked up at the sky, “we are precisely doing what we were meant for, there is no otherwise”. He looked furious, “I hate it when u speak like this” he angrily replied. “Like what?” I softly but mockingly asked; “forget it, I don’t want to talk with you anymore” he said. I laughed a little and said, “it’s funny that both of us talk in terms of philosophy, just that mine isn’t mainstream so you get irritated by it. Also, you don’t realise it. When you speak of enjoyment or living more you speak of a belief not a fact. Look at the wild, do things live for enjoyment. They don’t! it seems that every thing that we call alive, lives to replicate itself. There seems to be no greater purpose, you could agree or disagree but that seems to be the only pattern for life how much ever unfortunate it feels”. I stopped and looked at him, he looked disheartened as if I stepped on his heart too insensitively. “You don’t have to look down upon it, rather believe that perhaps we were born for this very purpose if not any of those that we dream of, and it’s not the worst of things. Perhaps getting a much better version of the brain than the other animals is much more unfortunate; we wouldn’t be having this conversation if we were two grown adult gorillas”. “You are lucky that we aren’t otherwise I would surely tear you apart in a fight” he said with fact defying confidence. “You wish” I flaunted.
We weren’t born for this but perhaps we were born, just for this.
Hey I hope you enjoyed it, this is a different kind of writing style than what I usually have used, I have been wanting to try this for some time, do let me know in the comments if you enjoyed it and don’t forget to share it.
